BEIRUT — Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri in Ain El-Tineh on Saturday to brief him on his participation in the Arab Summit held in Algeria and the COP27 Climate Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, the state-run National News Agency reported.
They also discussed the latest political developments and legislative affairs in Lebanon, according to the NNA.
Mikati left the meeting without making a statement, only responding to a question about on the electricity crisis in Lebanon. When asked if the two discussed the matter, Mikati answered, "We agreed on a formula" to resolve the crisis."
State-run Électricité du Liban supplies Lebanese households with only a few hours of electricity each day.
Earlier in November, Mikati called on member states of the Arab League at the Arab Summit in Algeria to "cooperate" as Lebanon faces a dire socio-economic crisis and an unprecedented double executive political vacancy.
During the COP27 UN conference held in Egypt, Mikati stressed Lebanon's high vulnerability to the effects of climate change. On the sidelines of both events, the caretaker prime minister met with world leaders about the political crisis currently unfolding in the country.
