BEIRUT — Lebanon on Thursday recorded 22 new cholera cases in the previous 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 368, the Health Ministry said in its daily report.

One more person has died as a result of the illness in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 15 since the beginning of the cholera outbreak on Oct. 5.

On Thursday, caretaker Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi in a statement asked governors "of all districts" to "fully monitor" the implementation of water treatment and "tighten their supervision on all sources of water."

Mawlawi also said a daily report should be submitted to the Branch of the Management of the Risks of Crisis, affiliated with the cabinet, that "should include the data taken from every governorate."

This is Lebanon's first cholera outbreak since 1993.
