BEIRUT — A fuel tanker exploded Thursday on the Metn highway in Mount Lebanon, injuring one person, Lebanon's Civil Defense confirmed in a tweet.
The explosion caused massive clouds of black smoke and a strong diesel smell in the vicinity.
Civil Defense said they deployed their forces and fire trucks from multiple centers across the country to extinguish the flames, which were put out late Thursday afternoon. The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
