BEIRUT — A resident of al-Khodor village in Baalbeck on Thursday morning fatally shot his son after an argument escalated between the two, before killing himself, L'Orient Today's correspondent in the Bekaa reported.

First information about the murder alleges that the fight took place because the father, A. S. A. was trying to convince his son, H. A. to rejoin the Lebanese Army.

Several cases of desertion have been reported in the past months in the army and the Internal Security Forces as soldiers' salaries have sharply depreciated following the unprecedented crisis that Lebanon is suffering, which caused the lira to lose more than 95 percent of its value.
