BEIRUT — A man died Friday in Saida, South Lebanon, after being stabbed during an argument, while another scuffle that escalated into a gunfight had earlier in the day injured several people in the same city, L'Orient Today's correspondent in the area reported.

In the afternoon, several people came to blows during an argument in the neighborhood of Hellalieh, east of Saida, during which a man was reportedly stabbed.

He died shortly after arriving at the hospital, a security source told L'Orient Today's correspondent. The source requested anonymity as he was not authorized to issue an official statement. Following this incident, the army deployed in the neighborhood in order to arrest the attacker.

Earlier in the day, five people were injured after a personal dispute escalated into a gunfight between members of the al-Zino family and al-Faour family also in Saida.

One of the wounded appeared to have been hit by a handgun bullet, people who said they were at the scene wrote on local social media groups. He was reportedly transferred to the Ghassan Hammoud hospital in Saida.
