BEIRUT — The General Directorate of Lebanon's Internal Security Forces announced Saturday that it had freed two kidnapped Iraqis in the Bekaa earlier this week and arrested several individuals suspected of involvement in the crime.

The ISF said in a statement that after receiving information about two Iraqis having been kidnapped in the Bekaa, its specialized units "intensified their procedures to determine their whereabouts and identify those involved." As a result of the investigations, the ISF was able to determine the location of the kidnapped people: in an apartment in the town of Makseh, Bekaa.

On Monday, "after careful monitoring and control, the division’s patrols carried out a raid on the apartment," the statement read, adding that security forces were able to liberate the two kidnapped Iraqis and arrest four Syrians suspected of involvement in the kidnapping.

According to the ISF, following an interrogation, "the kidnappers confessed to what was attributed to them in terms of their involvement in the kidnapping" and their case has been transferred to the relevant authority while work is continuing to arrest the remainder of those involved.
