BEIRUT — Security forces in the city of Saida arrested five of ten prisoners who escaped Wednesday night from the New Saida al-Hisbah police station, L'Orient Today's correspondent reported.

Here's what we know:

    • Information from L'Orient Today's correspondent indicated that an undetermined number of fugitives entered the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian camp, and that the security services were communicating with Palestinian officials inside the camp in order to hand them over to authorities.

    • In August, more than 30 detainees escaped from the Adlieh detention center in Beirut via a window after clandestinely bringing a tool into the prison, security and judicial sources reported. Four of the detainees were found and arrested by the security officials the next day. While earlier in Dec. 2021, seven detainees escaped from a military police prison in the Bekaa.
