BEIRUT — The media office of the caretaker Minister of Public Works Ali Hamieh stated Thursday morning that a bomb attached to electrical wires exploded in Hamieh's house garden in his hometown Taraya in the Bekaa valley on Thursday, the state-run National News Agency reported. Hamieh’s spokesperson, contacted by L’Orient Today, declined to give a comment about the incident, adding that security agents are currently inspecting the site of the explosion.

Ali Hamieh was chosen by Hezbollah and Amal for Prime Minister Najib Mikati's cabinet.  He is a French citizen and studied in France, before coming back to Lebanon.

Our correspondent in the region reported that the explosion went off at about five minutes to two o'clock in the morning, adding that the small explosion resulted in no injuries or damage. Security sources indicated that the explosion was caused by a small stun grenade that was thrown under one of the trees adjacent to the concierge’s room.

It is worth mentioning that Hamieh was not at his Taraya home, but actually in Beirut, when the incident took place.
