Clashes between with Lebanese Army and alleged car robbers lead to two injured

BEIRUT — Armed clashes broke out on Sunday morning in Baalbeck, Bekaa, between alleged car robbers and the Lebanese Army, leaving at least two civilians injured, the Lebanese Army announced on its Twitter account.

Here’s what we know:

    • According to the army, Individuals “opened fire against the army during a search in Brital. The military returned fire and injured two of them." It also said that "no soldier was hit while one of the wounded is in critical state.”

    • The army continues its searches against a gang accused of stealing cars. They have already arrested four men who were allegedly involved in car theft from a car rental office in Riyaq in the Bekaa, and seized one of the stolen vehicles.
