BEIRUT — A suspect was injured and another is still at large, after an exchange of fire during a chase between the army and fugitives in the Bekaa, the Lebanese Army reported Monday.
Here's what we know:
• According to a military statement, the army went to Wadi Faara, in the Bekaa, after receiving information about a stolen vehicle, black in color, registration number B532170. The individual driving the stolen vehicle and being escorted by another suspect on a motorcycle without plates, opened fire on the patrol, prompting them to return fire.
• The biker was injured by army fire and hospitalized. The motorist managed to escape on foot. It later transpired that injured suspect was wanted on a warrant for theft.
• On Saturday, a Lebanese soldier was killed and another injured in armed clashes with traffickers on the northern border with Syria.
