BEIRUT — Four men from Tripoli (North Lebanon) were killed Wednesday fighting in the ranks of the jihadist group the “Islamic State” in Iraq, according to L’Orient Today's correspondent.
Here’s what we know:
• Their death was announced Thursday by an IS spokesman in a voice message addressed to their parents, to whom he offered his condolences.
• IS was officially expelled in an offensive from Lebanon in August 2017, but cells of the jihadist group are known to still exist in the country. Authorities regularly announce arrests of alleged members of the terrorist group.
