Rival families clash, exchange RPG fire in northern Lebanon

BEIRUT — Clashes broke out Wednesday night between two rival clans near the Syrian border, between the northern Lebanon villages of Meshrefeh and Masriyeh, our correspondent in the area reported.

Here’s what we know:

    • Tensions between the Abu al-Jabal and Hajj Hassan clans escalated into RPG fire following the killing of a man yesterday from the Hajj Hassan family, according to our correspondent.

    • Incidents like Wednesday’s armed clash have been recurrent in parts of Lebanon as the state struggles amid multiple crises to impose its authority.
