BEIRUT — State telecommunications provider Ogero announced a service outage in the Nahr Ibrahim area on Monday due to the overloading of its generators, the company tweeted.

Here’s what we know:

    • The tweet added that Ogero’s teams are “working to fix the malfunction as quickly as possible.”

    • In January, Ogero announced service outages across swathes of Beirut due to diesel shortages. Lebanon’s telecommunications companies struggle to maintain viable services in the face of an economic crisis in which fuel and operational costs have risen dramatically.

    • Ogero employees have gone on several strikes since the economic crisis in 2019 unfolded, the most recent being in July, citing “salaries that are too low” and the fact that employees have to pay the cost of transportation to work from their wages, which “remain aligned at unacceptable levels,” the employees had said in a statement.
