BEIRUT — Caretaker Health Minister Firas Abiad accepted 11 containers of medical supplies, including ICU medications, on Tuesday morning from Turkish ambassador to Lebanon Ali Barış Ulusoy, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.

Here’s what we know:

    • The containers from Turkey, which reportedly held more than 90 tons of medical supplies, arrived Tuesday morning at the Ministry of Public Health’s medical warehouse at the Lebanese University in Hadath.

    • The head of the Higher Relief Council, Muhammad Khair, was quoted by NNA as saying the 11 containers were received “for the benefit” of the council and will be distributed to government-run hospitals and health centers. The Higher Relief Council is a Lebanese government body tasked with emergency relief and aid distribution.

    • Patients will reportedly not be charged for using any of the donated medical supplies, while drug distribution will prioritize patients who cannot afford to purchase them at their new, raised prices at pharmacies.
