BEIRUT — A fire erupted on Wednesday in the village of Qabeit Akkar, for reasons still unknown amid very high temperatures in the country, L’Orient Today’s correspondent in North Lebanon reported.
Here’s what we know:
• According to our correspondent, firefighters and Civil Defense workers quickly deployed to the area to try to contain it before it spreads to nearby houses and agricultural areas.
• The wind’s speed is spreading the fire and approaching a residential area, according to L’Orient Today’s correspondent.
• Many fires take place each year in the country especially during summer and autumn seasons many of which are man-made, according to caretaker Environment Minister Nasser Yassin. There have already been several fires around Lebanon, and particularly in Akkar, this month.
