BEIRUT — Free Patriotic Movement’s leader Gebran Bassil on Friday met with the Hungarian Foreign Affairs Minister Péter Szijjártó, Bassil said on Twitter.
Here’s what we know:
• Member of the diplomatic relations at FPM Bachir Haddad also accompanied him on his visit, Bassil added in his Twitter post.
• In 2019, during a visit to Hungary from Bassil and Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros al-Rai, Szijjártó said that Hungary had allocated $1.5 million towards the reconstruction and renovation of 33 Lebanese churches.
• During his previous visit, Bassil had thanked Hungary for its support for Lebanon’s church renovations and said he trusted that more and more countries would follow Hungary’s lead in aiding Lebanon’s Christian community.
