BEIRUT — The Internal Security Forces arrested Saturday a suspect accused of shooting and killing his brother during a dispute in the locality of Ras al-Sakhr, Tripoli, an ISF spokesperson confirmed to L’Orient Today.
Here’s what we know:
• According to the ISF, the 67-year-old perpetrator, who is a Lebanese citizen, fired a Kalashnikov rifle at his brother on Saturday, killing him. A few hours after the crime occurred and “as a result of investigations and immediate follow-up, the patrols of the Information Division were able to locate the perpetrator's hiding place in Al-Jisreen al-Bahsa,” Tripoli, where they arrested the suspect and seized his rifle.
• During his interrogation, he confessed that he killed his brother, according to the ISF.
• A woman was also shot in the shoulder by her husband in the locality of Jabal al-Badawi, Tripoli. Upon interrogation, the husband claimed that he was aiming his gun at a burglar who broke into their house but shot his wife by mistake, the ISF spokesperson told L’Orient Today.
• The injured woman, who is in a stable condition, was transferred to Tripoli’s Governmental Hospital to receive the necessary treatment, according to the ISF. An investigation into what exactly happened is ongoing by security forces, who will take the woman’s statement after she has finished her treatment.
