BEIRUT — Gebran Bassil, the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, said in a press conference Tuesday, that “time and experience has shown that the president could not do much alone.”
Here’s what we know:
• Bassil called for the presidential elections slated for October to be held on time, and stated that FPM believes that “it will be held on time.”
• “The actual change that is required is to develop the current system, because our system is the birthplace of problems and crises,” he continued.
• Bassil stated that President Michel Aoun is a full partner in the process of forming the government, and he has the right to express his opinion on all ministries, regardless of their sects, along with Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati.
• Bassil also discussed the European Union Election Observation Mission report that was released yesterday and the recommendations it released for future elections, calling for the recommendations to be implemented.
