Clash in Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp

BEIRUT — An ongoing clash erupted on Monday evening in Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp in Saida between the Palestinian armed groups Jund al-Sham and Asbat al-Ansar, where automatic weapons and RPGs are being used, L’Orient Today’s correspondent in South Lebanon reported.

Here’s what we know:

    • A source from the area told L’Orient Today’s correspondent that the reason the clash started is that members of the Asbat al-Ansar group shot at a senior member Jund al-Sham.

    • L’Orient Today’s correspondent received a voice from a resident of the area as he begged for help and said that “there are people including children that are stuck in their homes. I call on all the leaders and the Sheikhs to intervene.”
