BEIRUT — A personal dispute between rival families near the village of Haniyeh, south of Sour, South Lebanon, escalated into an armed clash on Tuesday, leaving at least three people injured, according to our correspondent in the region.

Here’s what we know:

    • Residents of the village told our correspondent that the clashes broke out between members of al-Walid and al-Badou families on one hand, and al-Mohsen and Howeila families on the other. The Lebanese Army intervened to break up the fight between the two pairs of families.

    • The army is carrying on with its search to find and arrest the people who opened fire, a source told our correspondent. According to the source, the clashes resulted in at least three injured people who were transferred to the Italian hospital in Sour.

    • Security incidents of this kind have multiplied recently in Lebanon, especially in the north and the Bekaa, as the country reels from a deepening economic crisis.
