BEIRUT — A man was killed and three people were injured in a gunfight that broke out in the southern town of Doueir, in the Nabatieh district, the state-run National News Agency reported.
Here’s what we know:
• According to the NNA, a quarrel erupted between A.S. Qanso along with his son and their neighbor from the Qubaisi family, who is from the town of Zawtar al-Sharqiya and a resident of Doueir. The dispute soon escalated, when young men came to support Qubaisi. Ramal, known as Hussein Barq, 45, who was working to break up the fight, was hit by seven bullets in the chest and stomach.
• Three people from the Qubaisi family were also wounded before they were all transferred to Sheikh Ragheb Harb Hospital in Toul, where Ramal died, according to the NNA.
• Army soldiers arrived at the scene and stationed near the house of the victim and the killer and worked to reduce the tension in the town, according to the NNA.
• The NNA did not specify the motives that led to the fight. L’Orient Today reached out to the municipality of Doueir for further information but they declined to comment.
