BEIRUT — The Health Ministry said it will investigate a video circulating on social media that shows the director of the governmental hospital of Bint Jbeil attacking one of the female hospital employees.
Here’s what we know:
• The Health Ministry issued a statement saying that a transparent investigation into the incident will be conducted, and “those concerned were summoned for questioning.”
• The video posted on social media shows a woman shouting: "I want my rights" repeatedly while being pushed and beaten by a man who, at the end of the video, grabs a stick and hits her with it.
• In response to the incident, the union of government hospital employees has asked all its members to hold a one-hour strike on Thursday from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., in solidarity with the abused employee.
• The employees of the establishment had announced last week an open strike to protest against their socio-economic conditions.
