BEIRUT — Two Bangladeshi baggage handlers working at Beirut international airport were arrested by the police on Monday for stealing money and valuables from suitcases, the police said in a tweet.

• The arrest follows a complaint filed by a traveler after the disappearance of objects, worth nearly $4,000, from his wife's luggage.
• According to the police, a first suspect was arrested and confessed to stealing objects in suitcases, before exposing his colleague, who also confessed.
• After searching the residences of these two men, the police seized several currencies, gold and silver objects, mobile phones and a valuable watch, according to the police.
• On Sunday, authorities thwarted an attempt to smuggle 18.3 kilograms of Captagon into Kuwait through Rafik Hariri International Airport.
