Search continues for those missing in Tripoli boat tragedy

BEIRUT — The Lebanese Army said in a tweet Thursday that “for the fifth day in a row, the process of searching for the victims of the sinking ship incident near the coast of Tripoli has continued.”

Here’s what we know:

    • The Lebanese Army said its members from the “land and navy group participated in the search in addition to members of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.”

    • Around 30 people remain missing following the sinking of the migrant boat off Qalamoun, south of Tripoli. At least six people have so far been confirmed dead in the tragedy, according to L’Orient Today’s correspondent.

    • On Tuesday, the cabinet instructed the Military Court to investigate the sinking of the boat.
