Man shot dead in Tripoli in apparent pre-election scuffle

BEIRUT — A man was shot dead in the Qubba area of Tripoli, Sunday, L’Orient Today’s correspondent reported.
Here’s what we know:
• The shooting apparently took place during a dispute involving the hanging of a politician’s picture.
• Local media identified the deceased as Abu Omar Murad.
• According to the state-run National News Agency the shooter fled the scene and is being pursued by security forces personnel.
• The local branch of the Karami Movement, led by MP Faisal Karami, issued a statement saying its members had nothing to do with the incident and that some social media users were spreading “fake news” about the party’s involvement.
