BEIRUT — Violence erupted overnight Thursday in the village of Doueir outside the southern town Nabatieh, with assailants opening fire and burning trucks as part of a blood feud, L’Orient Today’s correspondent in the region reported.
Here’s what we know:
• Two trucks were set fire in the past day at a quarry while gunfire was exchanged due to an ongoing personal dispute, the correspondent reported.
• The incident comes as a part of a blood feud stemming from the killing of a man in one family allegedly at the hands of quarry owner.
• Civil Defense’s local unit extinguished the flaming vehicles, the correspondent said, adding tension was still palpable in the area on Friday.
