BEIRUT — Ongoing armed clashes between rival families in the Bab al-Tebbaneh area of Tripoli Monday have left at least three injured and caused material damage, L’Orient Today’s correspondent in North Lebanon reported.
Here's what we know:
• According to our correspondent, the clashes pitted armed members of the Issa family against others of the al-Ali family. One of the three injured is in critical condition. Several cars and stores were damaged by the fighting. Fires were also reported in some businesses. The Lebanese Army and first aid services quickly deployed to the area.
• The causes of the still ongoing clashes are unclear.
• Tripoli, the poorest city in Lebanon, is often the scene of security incidents, including armed clashes between rival factions, as the country struggles with an unprecedented economic crisis causing the already struggling city to suffer more.
