BEIRUT — A member of camp security in the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp in Saida died Monday after having been shot Sunday evening, our correspondent in the area reported, naming the deceased as Mohammad Mabda.
Here’s what we know:
• Two masked individuals opened fire on Mabda in a vegetable market in Ain al-Hilweh. Wounded by several bullets in the foot and hip, Mabda was hospitalized for treatment.
• Following this incident, the Islamist group Fateh al-Islam, as well as Palestinian security forces, deployed in the camp.
• Ain al-Hilweh is the largest Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon. Lebanese security forces do not have jurisdiction inside its boundaries.
