Independent electoral list registered in Mount Lebanon I

BEIRUT — An independent list of candidates for the May 15 parliamentary elections in the Mount Lebanon I constituency, which includes Kesrouan and Jbeil, “the Independent Heart of Lebanon,” was registered on Friday.

Here’s what we know:

    • Vying for the constituency’s five Maronite seats in Kesrouan are sitting MPs Farid Haykal el Khazen and Chamel Roukoz, who respectively ran with the “We have the Decision” and “Strong Lebanon'' lists, Chaker Salameh, who also ran with the “We have the Decision” list but was not elected, as well as Salim al Hani and Toufic Salloum. As for the three seats in Jbeil, Emil Nawfal and Tony Kheirallah are running for the two Maronite seats, and Ahmad Hani al Mekdad for the Shia seat.

    • The candidates will be facing the Lebanese Forces supported list “With you, we can go all the way,” which was registered on Wednesday.

    • The deadline to register candidate lists with the Interior Ministry is April 4.
