BEIRUT - Lebanese Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi said in a statement that a revolver containing 11 bullets was found in the suitcase of a passenger departing from Beirut to Ankara, Turkey on Friday morning.
Here’s what we know:
• Mawlawi said in a statement that after a traveler's suitcase was inspected “a revolver magazine containing 11 bullets was found” at Beirut International Airport. The passenger was summoned by the crew of the Turkish plane and then transferred to the judicial police.
• He was subsequently released on bail with proof of residence, added the minister in his statement.
• The flight crew carried out a search of the scene to ensure that the traveler had left nothing behind before he took off.
