Alfa and Touch stations burgled in North Lebanon

BEIRUT — Two relay and transmitter stations belonging to state telecom providers Alfa and Touch were broken into and robbed between Wednesday night and Thursday in the town of Daher Rmah in North Lebanon, the state-run National News Agency reported.

Here’s what we know:

    • The thieves emptied the fuel stocks and took the batteries that were in both stations. Security forces were deployed to the scenes and began an investigation.

    • The theft of batteries, along with electric wires, has become increasingly frequent in Lebanon due to the items’ black market resale value amid the economic and social crises afflicting the country.
