BEIRUT – Former MP and Labor Minister Assem Qanso, a member of Ba’ath party, announced Thursday that he is going to run in the upcoming parliamentary elections, scheduled for May 15, the state-run National News Agency reported.
Here’s what we know:
• According to the NNA, Qanso will run for the Shiite seat in the Baalbek-Hermel district.
• Addressing the current political class, Qanso said “be careful, you are not aware where you’re taking the country, Lebanon needs efforts to save it from what it is facing.”
• Qanso, whose party is affiliated with the Syrian regime, was elected MP three times in 1996, 2000 and 2009.
