BEIRUT — Former MP and Vice President of the Future Movement Mustapha Alloush resigned from his position in the party, the Future Movement said in a statement Friday.
Here’s what we know:
• In a statement, the Future Movement said that Alloush “submitted his resignation from the party in a call with [party head] Saad Hariri.”
• “Hariri decided to accept his resignation today,” the statement also said.
• Accordingly, he is free from any commitments to the party and has the full right, according to procedures, to go his own way to either [run] for elections or other things,” the party added.
• Earlier this week the party said in a statement that any member of the party who wishes to run for the upcoming parliamentary elections, scheduled for May 15, to submit their resignation.
• In January, former prime minister Saad Hariri announced that he had decided to step aside from political life and that he would not run in the upcoming polls. He also asked his party not to participate in the elections.
