BEIRUT – Hezbollah deputy Hassan Fadlallah said on Monday that the “two axes” of the pro-Iranian party in the May 15 legislative elections were to ‘deal with the economic crisis and American propaganda.”
Here’s what we know:
• During a ceremony in Aita Shaab, in South Lebanon, the member of the “Loyalty to the Resistance” parliamentary bloc indicated that the party “is embarking on the electoral race with two markers: to face the economic crisis, and confront American propaganda via its satellites in Lebanon.”
• Secretary General of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah announced in a speech in mid-February that the slogan for the legislative elections is: “We remain to protect and build.”
• At the time, he once again said that Hezbollah was opposed to a postponement or cancellation of the May 15 elections.
• A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is expected this Monday evening in Lebanon, Mr. Fadlallah estimated that “the only program of our adversaries is to submit to the IMF, even if that leads to the freezing of wages in the public sector,” criticizing the possible financial assistance program that the international body would adopt to help Lebanon.
• Two days ago, Hassan Fadlallah reprimanded the official position of Lebanon, which condemned the Russian military invasion in Ukraine.
