BEIRUT – Lebanon’s Foreign Ministry said after discussions with the Polish embassy in Lebanon and the Lebanese embassy in Poland that Lebanese citizens in Ukraine will be allowed to cross the border into Poland.

Here’s what we know:

    • "The Lebanese in Ukraine can cross the Polish border even if they do not have an entry visa, for a period not exceeding 15 days, and special entry permits will be given to Lebanese who wish to cross who are in possession of travel documents," the ministry statement said, as reported by the National News Agency.

    • The statement added that Polish border guards "will grant immediate approval to cross the border based on a list of names that they will receive from the Lebanese embassy in Warsaw.”

    • To facilitate the process, Lebanese citizens in Ukraine were asked to contact Qais Badr at the Lebanese embassy in Poland at 0048664094748 and provide him with pictures of their passports and residency documents in Ukraine.

    • The statement noted that Lebanese wanting to cross from Ukraine into Romania would be permitted to do so if they have valid passports, and those without valid passports would be allowed to cross with emergency travel documents. It added that Romanian authorities will provide accommodation, food and medical assistance for a period of 24 to 48 hours for those coming from Ukraine.

    • Lebanese arriving in Romania via Moldova will be exempted from the entry visa, and they will be directed towards the city of Iasi after crossing the Moldovan-Romanian border, where a large refugee camp has been prepared by the Romanian authorities.

    • Lebanese wishing to cross into Romania were asked to contact Mohamad Ashmar at the Embassy of Lebanon in Romania at 0040751691795.

    • The statement noted that people arriving from Ukraine will be exempted from quarantine procedures upon entering Poland and Romania. However, it also warned that waiting time at the border crossings exceeds 24 hours.
