Parents of Lebanese students studying abroad give government '72 hours' to start helping students in Ukraine

BEIRUT – Members of the Lebanese Association of Parents of Students Studying Abroad said Friday that it will wait “72 hours before taking escalation steps if the Lebanese government does not take the measures needed to protect the students and evacuate them through safe passages.”

Here’s what we know:

    • In a statement, the association asked the Lebanese government to “send Middle East Airlines planes to Ukraine’s neighboring countries so that they can be transported to their home country.”

    • The association also said it fears that “the European sanctions [on Russia] could prevent any money transfers to the students.”

    • Earlier today, Lebanon’s Ambassador to Ukraine Ali Daher said that efforts are ongoing to provide buses to evacuate Lebanese citizens currently in Ukraine.
