BEIRUT — The Ain al-Mreisseh Mosque in Beirut was robbed early Wednesday morning by two individuals, the state-run National News Agency reported.

Here’s what we know:

    • According to the NNA, two masked individuals infiltrated the courtyard of the mosque before stealing air compressors and cutting electrical wires connected to air conditioners and lighting, as well as projectors.

    • The NNA also indicated that the two thieves then ran away after guards became aware of their presence, and an investigation was opened regarding the matter.

    • Thefts have multiplied in Lebanon in recent months amid a spiraling socio-economic crisis, while security forces are unable to keep up with the crimes.
