BEIRUT — The Lebanese Army has thwarted an attempt to smuggle some 200,000 captagon pills from Syria into Lebanon aboard a motorcycle, the state-run National News Agency reported Monday.

Here’s what we know:

    • An army unit on Sunday seized a cargo of 200,000 captagon pills in Wadi Oueini, a region on the outskirts of Arsal.

    • The Lebanese military command said that the individual transporting the pills was trying to cross from Syria into Lebanon aboard a motorcycle.

    • However, the motorcyclist was not caught. “During the chase, the cargo fell off the vehicle and the driver managed to flee,” the statement from the army continued, adding that a search for the fugitive is underway.
