BEIRUT — US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Saturday discussed Lebanon during a meeting with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
Here’s what we know:
• In a tweet, Blinken wrote that he spoke with his French counterpart about “the crisis Russia has precipitated,” as well as “Iran, the Sahel region, and Lebanon."
• Blinken, who is at the Munich Security Conference scheduled to last from Friday until Sunday, did not go into further details.
• In November, Blinken called on the “various friends and supporters of Lebanon” to bolster the country and said he believed Prime Minister Najib Mikati has a “good plan” for moving Lebanon forward.
