Aoun's office denies Future Movement claim he directed arrest attempt on Salameh

BEIRUT— President Michel Aoun’s office on Wednesday denied “the lies” in a statement by the Future Movement accusing the president of directing Mount Lebanon Public Prosecutor Judge Ghada Aoun to issue a subpoena against central bank Governor Riad Salameh, the NNA reports.

Here’s what we know:

    • The Future Movement on Tuesday condemned in a statement the attempt to take Riad Salameh in for questioning, claiming that the arrest was ordered by President Aoun.

    • Aoun’s office claimed that what was mentioned in the Future Movement statement is an “absolute lie and is baseless.”

    • “Such statements fall within the framework of the fabrications that the Future Movement has been publishing to the media,” the president’s statement continued.
