Voting lists for legislative elections finalized

BEIRUT – The Directorate General of Personal Status announced Tuesday that, after registration for the electoral lists froze on Feb. 1, the number of voters registered to cast their ballot in the legislative elections is 3,967, 507.

Here’s what we know:

•  The General Directorate of Personal Status said in a statement “that the final number of voters is 3,967,507 after removing 13,555 electors who died and 419 voters who received judgments on their judicial records. In addition, 8,050 voters who will be 21 years old on the election day, May 15, 2022, have been added as well as 3,064 whose names have been corrected.”

•  The final number of voters entitled to vote from abroad was previously announced at 225,624.

•  “For greater transparency and after obtaining the approval of the Interior Minister, the management confirms that, as of Tuesday February 15, copies of the final electoral lists will be issued on CDs, at a cost of LL70,000 per each electoral district,” the statement added.
