BEIRUT — The heavy rain and snowfall on Friday caused school closures and road blocks in many areas, while some people were stuck in their vehicles before the authorities intervened to rescue them, the state-run National News Agency reported.
Here’s what we know:
• According to the NNA, the areas of Chouf and Aley experienced snowfall at elevations as low as 1,000 meters which caused roadblocks and led to school and store closures.
• In Zouk Mikael, the civil defense reportedly pulled out three cars that had gotten stuck in pools of water in the roads created by the heavy rain.
• Snow also fell in many areas in Akkar starting at 1,100 meters’ elevation, while the Public Works ministry’s bulldozers intervened to save four people who were stuck in a four-wheel drive vehicle in the middle of the snow.
• Also in Hermel, roads were blocked on the routes leading to Dinnieh and Mishmish in North Lebanon.
