Man accidentally kills himself while handling a weapon in Beddawi camp

BEIRUT — A man accidentally killed himself Saturday evening while handling a heavy weapon in the Beddawi Palestinian refugee camp in North Lebanon, the state-run National News Agency reported Sunday.

Here's what we know: 

    • The victim, identified by his initials Kh.M.Kh., was shot in the head and hospitalized in serious condition but died shortly afterwards.

    • Accidents involving firearms are common in Lebanon where, according to a study by Lebanon Statistics from October 2020, 31.5 percent of households own a hunting or military type weapon.
