BEIRUT — Cellular service from Alfa, one of Lebanon’s two mobile telecommunications companies, has gone down in the northeastern town of Hermel, the National News Agency reported Saturday.

Here’s what we know:

    • The state-run NNA said that Alfa’s cellular services has been cut off in Hermel and nearby villages, the latest in a series of electricity and telecom outages to wreak havoc in the beleaguered country.

    • The NNA’s report added that Électricité du Liban’s power supply to the area has been down for two days, angering residents.

    • On Wednesday, the head of Lebanon’s state-operated telecoms company Ogero said that fuel was being distributed to its telecom stations to help boost service, after diesel shortages in recent weeks lead to telecom blackouts in different areas of Lebanon, including Beirut.
