BEIRUT — The association of municipalities of Jord al-Kaita in Akkar condemned in a statement on Wednesday a shooting incident targeting Hatem Othman, the head of the municipality in Bzal, which took place yesterday.

Here’s what we know:

    • According to L’Orient Today’s correspondent in the area, unknown assailants shot at Othman’s house yesterday, damaging the house and some cars that were parked in front of it.

    • The statement also called on security forces to arrest those who shot at Othman’s house and “control the state of security in Akkar, which is experiencing a lot of shootings on a daily basis.”

    • Security forces soon came to the area and opened an investigation into the incident.
