BEIRUT — Another convoy of trucks loaded with Iranian diesel arrived in Hermel in the north Bekaa shortly before midnight, our sister publication L’Orient-Le Jour reported.
Here’s what we know:
• The latest convoy follows the arrival on Thursday of 80 tankers loaded with diesel shipped by Iran to the Syrian port of Baniyas and then transported over land to Lebanon.
• The trucks will unload their cargo in Baalbeck at Amana gas stations, which are affiliated with Hezbollah and have been a target of US sanctions since February 2020.
• The arrival of the first fuel shipment, which will be followed by at least three others, according to Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, is aimed at relieving Lebanon’s crippling fuel shortages.
