BEIRUT — Internet services are down this morning in the capital’s Ras Beirut neighborhood due to local “equipment dysfunction,” the state telecommunications company, Ogero, announced on Twitter.

Here’s what we know:

    • Internet and phone line outages have become regular occurrences amid the ongoing power outages stemming from fuel shortages, with the state power utility, Electricité du Liban, providing only a few hours of uninterrupted power per day.

    • Villages in Mount Lebanon’s Chouf District, including Khaldeh and Beiteddine, recently faced cuts in telephone and internet services on multiple occasions.

    • With Banque du Liban running low on foreign currency reserves, the state telecoms has been running low spare parts, cables and other equipment for maintenance, which as imports must be paid for in US dollars.
