Generators in the Aley area will shut down indefinitely from tomorrow

BEIRUT — Generator owners in Aley and its neighboring villages have announced that they will shut down their generators from tomorrow until further notice, the NNA reports.

What we know:

    • The generator owners say they have have exhausted their fuel supplies and so must shut down indefinitely. “We are forced to completely turn off our generators from tomorrow until sufficient quantities [of diesel], which we had requested from the authorities, are provided to us,” the owners of the private generators said, according to the NNA.

    • The owners also denounced the lack of cooperation on the part of the state and its ministries concerning the supply of fuel in the country. 

    • Diesel, which is necessary to run generators, has become increasingly scarce in Lebanon, which is experiencing long hours of state power blackouts amid a crippling economic crisis.
