SOUTH LEBANON — The Israeli army continued its attacks in southern Lebanon overnight from Sunday to Monday, carrying out a large-scale demolition operation in Beit Yahoun, where it demolished houses, before entering the village of Kfar Shuba, our correspondent in the region reports.
The Israeli army demolished several homes in Beit Yahoun, in the Bint Jbeil district. In the same area, Israeli forces carried out earthworks in the Braasheet nature reserve, near the water reservoir in the Bir Saadeddine area, as Israel continues to consolidate its positions in the occupied zone, which covers more than 600 square kilometers.
At around 8 a.m. Monday, about 10 Israeli soldiers entered the border village of Kfar Shuba, in the Hasbaya district, and searched homes. Another patrol took up position in an area known locally as the "Blessed Tree," east of the village, while three Merkava tanks advanced into its southern part.
Yesterday, Israeli aircraft carried out an airstrike on Kfar Tibnit, in the Nabatieh district, after 11 p.m.
Several localities in southern Lebanon were targeted by artillery fire overnight. In the Sour district, Mansouri was shelled for the first time after 9 p.m. Sunday, again after 2 a.m. Monday, and a third time at around 8 a.m. A fourth artillery strike hit an area between Mansouri and the neighboring village of Majdal Zoun. In the Nabatieh district, Kfar Tibnit came under artillery fire after 10 p.m. In the Bint Jbeil district, the outskirts of Braasheet were shelled after 11 p.m. and again at around 5 a.m., alongside machine-gun fire directed toward the village. In the Hasbaya district, artillery shells hit the outskirts of Shebaa after 10 p.m., and in the Marjayoun district, Wadi Slouqi was hit by artillery fire shortly after midnight.
On Sunday, Israeli aircraft had already bombed homes in three localities in southern Lebanon, while nine villages came under heavy artillery fire and another demolition operation was reported.
