Three years after Oct. 7, Palestinians caught between fragile hope and devastating loss
Israel's devastation of Gaza, in response to the Hamas operation, has caused Palestinians immeasurable sorrow. Now they are trying to capitalize on the wave of global support it has generated.

Baha’ still remembers his shock on Oct. 7, 2023, when he learned that Hamas members had crossed by sea, land and air the walls that seemed insurmountable to all Palestinians in Gaza. “When I learned that members of the resistance had managed to break into Israeli settlements, I at first felt a sense of pride,” admits this journalist who has been based in the besieged and occupied enclave since 2007. “I never imagined that the genocide would continue three years later,” he quickly adds.
